A Message to Our Donors and Corporate Partners
Your support strengthens the network of services that thousands of Summit County residents rely on each year. As federal priorities shift, community investment becomes even more vital. Donor contributions help ensure that outreach teams reach people where they are, that families can access basic needs and transitional services, and that individuals can build pathways toward stability and employment.
Thank you for your support and for making this work possible.
— Christopher J. Richardson, M.Ed., LPC, LICDC-CS, Executive Director, SCCoC

Partner Spotlight: Community Support Services (CSS)
CSS is home to the Homeless Outreach Team, one of the most critical resources for people living outdoors or in encampments. Outreach staff engage with individuals who are disconnected from services, providing safety checks, crisis response, behavioral health support, and warm hand-offs into Coordinated Entry.
Through HUD/SCCoC-funded programs, CSS ensures that people experiencing the highest barriers still have access to compassionate, consistent support. Donor contributions strengthen these outreach efforts by helping supply necessities, transportation assistance, and field materials.
When outreach teams have the tools they need, more lives can be reached — and changed.
How Donor Support Helps Working Adults Get Back on Their Feet
Workforce participation is one of the most effective indicators of long-term stability. This year, SCCoC expanded partnerships with OhioMeansJobs, Goodwill, Stark State, and several local employers to build direct routes into employment.
Donor support provides:
- Work clothing and steel-toe boots
- Gas cards and bus passes
- Fees for IDs, certifications, and state documents
- Interview preparation supplies
- Access to short-term training programs
A single job can be the turning point — and donors help make that possible.
Strengthening Recovery Pathways
Many people experiencing homelessness are also navigating substance use challenges. Donor support helps bridge the gaps between detox, inpatient treatment, outpatient care, and stable service connections.
Your contributions help provide:
- Transportation to treatment
- Basic needs upon discharge
- Recovery-friendly transitional beds
- Peer support partnerships
- Navigation assistance for ongoing care
When someone completes treatment, the next 72 hours are critical. Donor support ensures no one re-enters crisis alone.
*If your business wants to partner, we build custom volunteer days and sponsorships for workplaces.
Success Story: A Path to Stability
Name withheld for privacy
After months of living outdoors, an individual was engaged by the CSS Outreach Team and connected to case management, detox, and a treatment program. With support from donors, they received clothing, transportation to appointments, and entry into a Transitional Housing program after treatment.
Today, they are enrolled in a short-term workforce certification and preparing for employment.
It started with an outreach visit — and continued because the community cared.
