Lived Experience Committee

The Lived Experience Committee is designed to involve homeless and/or formerly homeless individuals in the design, development, and implementation of projects funded through the Summit County Continuum of Care. It is the goal of the SCCoC that at every level, its partner organizations within the collaborative will recruit, encourage, and utilize the input of those with lived experience wherever possible. The SCCoC member organizations are expected to maintain a documented history of such contributions. The involvement should be meaningful and span all aspects of organizational activities. To these ends, LEC members may assist in research, consultation, service and program delivery, strategic communications. Tasks related to policy development, listening sessions or public testimony or comment, advisory, and advocacy could also be involved. Individuals with lived experience may provide deliver strength-based, trauma-informed support, services, and programs grounded in shared and common experiences as outreach workers, case managers, paraprofessionals, recovery specialists and coaches, and peer support specialists through consumer- and peer-operated programs and services.
