ACCESS is dedicated to addressing the plight of homeless women and children in our community. The agency encourages the development of self-esteem and the attainment of self-sufficiency through its commitment to providing a holistic, safe and supportive environment, and through its programs of housing, advocacy and empowerment.

Akron Aids Collaborative

The mission of the Akron AIDS is to broaden the network of caring organizations in the minority community, to influence social norms that contribute to the prevention of HIV/AIDS, and to increase advocacy for social services for people of color who are living with HIV/AIDS and people who have suffered from sexual orientation stigma within the African American community.

Legacy III

Legacy III exists to provide supportive housing services to homeless women in Summit County who are in recovery from chronic substance abuse, mental health disorders, or physical disabilities. The agency assists our program participants in re-establishing stability in their lives, advocating for themselves, and becoming economically self-sufficient members of society. Legacy III is able to successfully carry out its mission through guidance from the Board of Directors, committed staff, support from funders, and the efforts of program participants.

The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination. The Salvation Army not only provides for basic needs such as food, clothing and shelter but also invests its time in the human spirit by offering counseling, education programs, recovery/support programs, and spiritual support for those willing to accept it.

Shelter Care

To meet the needs of the community by empowering youth and families through community mental health services that include residential and non-residential treatment for youth between the ages of 6 and 21 years who manifest emotional, behavioral or social adjustment problems. Youth may be referred for treatment as a self-referral or by the family; child welfare, juvenile justice or mental health systems. Services provided include housing; clothing; food; mental health assessments; individual, family and group counseling; community psychiatric supportive treatment; education and employment opportunities; recreation; transportation; medical and psychological care; and full-time supervision.

VA Community Resource & Referral Centers (CRRCs)

CRRCs are strategically placed facilities that offer a “one-stop” environment for Veterans who are homeless or are at risk of homelessness. CRRCs are established in collaboration with local community, state, and other federal partners who provide services to the homeless. The CRRCs are designed to facilitate access to participating services, such as outreach/case management, VA and non-VA benefits, vocational services, treatment, shelter, residential care, and housing. Immediate services include showers, laundry, storage, food donations, transportation, and phone and internet access.

Veteran’s Health Administration

Victim Assistance Program

Provides 24-hour crisis intervention, advocacy, and education to victims of crime and trauma and the professional community who serves this population.
