Summit County Continuum of Care Welcomes New Executive Director, Christopher J. Richardson

Akron, OH — 9/30/2025 — The Summit County Continuum of Care (SCCoC) proudly announces the appointment of Christopher J. Richardson, M.Ed., LPC, LICDC-CS as its new Executive Director. Richardson brings more than two decades of leadership experience in behavioral health, addiction recovery, and nonprofit management to the role.

Richardson has served in executive positions at organizations across Summit County, including Coleman Professional Services, Community Health Center Addiction Services, and AxessPointe Community Health Centers. He is widely recognized for building innovative programs that expand access to care, strengthen community partnerships, and create lasting impact for individuals and families.

“I am honored to join the Summit County Continuum of Care as Executive Director,” said Richardson. “This work is about people — ensuring that every person in our community has the dignity, resources, and support they need to thrive. I look forward to leading alongside our partners, staff, and community to strengthen our collective impact.”

Richardson’s leadership style is rooted in service compassion, collaboration, and a deep commitment to equity. His track record includes launching mobile crisis response services, food-is-medicine initiatives, and expanded recovery programs — all designed to break down barriers and build healthier, more resilient communities.

In addition to his professional experience, Richardson has demonstrated strong community engagement through board service and civic leadership:

  • Advisory Board Member, Kent State University Public Health
  • Graduate, Leadership Akron. Class 34

Mr. Richardson is married to his wife of 27 years, Darlene. They have three “amazing children”, Christian, Courtnai, and Camille.
